Seller Guidelines

The InnerCampus Seller Guidelines outline the procedures for selling books on the InnerCampus site, including the book quality guidelines, book pricing guidelines, book shipping guidelines, and Seller Payment Guidelines.

Quality Guidelines

Listing your book at fair prices with accurate descriptions will ensure that your book sell quickly and smoothly. InnerCampus Buyers will be making their buying decisions based on the descriptions you provide, and it’s essential that you accurately describe the condition of your book.

We provide you with a ratings scale and visual tools to help you determine the quality of your book. Book quality is based on a six point rating scale from poor to new (see ratings below). It is your responsibility to accurately determine the condition of your book, both the interior and exterior, based on this rating scale. Additionally, when you post your book for sale you should submit any comments you feel may help the buyer more accurately determine the book condition.

The following ratings are to be used by Seller to rate your books:

New: Must be in perfect condition, with no cover or binding damage of any kind. The interior of the book must be in excellent condition as well, without any markings, highlights, creases, folding, or any other type of damage. Typically this book has never been read, and possibly still in the original wrapper.

Great: Appears to be like new, very clean with no visible damage. The interior is in excellent condition as well, with no markings or highlights on any of the pages, some pages may have minor creases. This book has barely been used, if at all.

Good: Slightly used, with some visible wear and tear. The cover and binding are generally free of any markings or damage. The interior pages are clean, with no writing or markings, and limited highlighting. Whoever used this book obviously took very good care of it.

Fine: Apparently used, with normal wear and tear on the cover including minor creases, and indented corners. The interior also appears used, with minimal writing and markings. There is moderate highlighting on pages.

Okay: Heavily used with some possible cover damage and a fair amount of creases. The interior of the book is not missing any pages, but there are markings and writings, possibly even slight tears. There is a significant amount highlighting, and other markings. This student did a lot of studying! I would get this book and also inquire about the professors exams.

Poor: Extremely poor condition and cannot be sold back to bookstore. Any book that is missing a cover or any pages, and is heavily damaged would be questionable for purchase. Remember you’re making this purchase at your own risk!

InnerCampus will not determine the books quality when posted, however InnerCampus will judge the accuracy of the Seller's rating in the event of a Buyer complaint. If the Seller has misrepresented the book's quality according to the Book Listing Guidelines provided, a refund will be given to the Buyer and InnerCampus will disable the Seller’s account.

Pricing Guidelines

We encourage you to price your book 20% less than what you purchased it for. This way you can recoup most of what you spent, and the Buyer will feel as if they got a good deal.

Shipping Guidelines

Our service is to encourage students to sell within their campus, however you do have the option to make a purchase from another campus. If the purchase requires shipment, all orders must be shipped within three business day of order confirmation. When preparing your shipment, please be sure to securely package your book using bubble wrap, crumpled newspaper or some other material to protect the book. Packages shipped via U.S. Postal Service should have 'Media Mail' written on the outside of the package in order to ensure prompt delivery. All Sellers using Media Mail should add Delivery Confirmation, available from the Post Office. The Seller is responsible for any extra shipping charges, so if the book is over three to four pounds then the Seller should take that into account when setting their book price. Please note that the Buyer name and address information is provided only for shipping the book, and may not be used for any other purpose.

Insurance and Tracking

When shipping high value books, we recommend Seller insure and track shipments. This is very important to protect Seller from loss and/or fraud. In the event of a damaged book, Seller should instruct Buyer to return damaged book to them so that an insurance claim may be made. InnerCampus will not reimburse Seller for loss resulting from damaged or missing packages.
